About the Role

We are looking for an InfoSec & GRC Intern to support the day-to-day work of Ushur's Information Security and Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) team. Ushur serves customers in regulated industries, where security and compliance are central to customer trust. This is a learning-focused role weighted towards GRC, with hands-on exposure to security operations. The intern will work alongside the InfoSec & GRC team on compliance research, automation, and routine security monitoring, and will gain practical experience with how a security programme runs in a regulated SaaS environment.

Responsibilities:

Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC)

• Support the Ushur Trust Framework (UTF) — help maintain content, track tasks, and organise supporting evidence.
• Conduct GRC research on standards, regulations, and best practices, and summarise findings for the team.
• Assist with GRC automation — help streamline repetitive compliance tasks such as evidence collection and tracking.

Information Security

• Assist with InfoSec tool automation — help reduce manual effort in routine security tasks.
• Support the build-out of an InfoSec dashboard to bring security metrics into a single view.
• Support Security Operations (SOC) — assist with regular review of logs to spot potential security incidents, under guidance.
• Assist with basic vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT) activities, under supervision.

Collaboration & Learning

• Work closely with the InfoSec & GRC team and learn how security and compliance operate in a regulated SaaS business.
• Translate research and findings into clear, simple write-ups for both technical and non-technical readers.
• Follow team processes for documentation, tracking, and handling sensitive information responsibly.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience

• Recent graduate (or up to 2 years of experience) in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
• Foundational understanding of information security concepts and an interest in governance, risk, and compliance.
• Basic scripting ability (Python preferred) and comfort working in Linux-based environments.
• Strong research, writing, and documentation skills, with attention to detail.
• Willingness to learn, take direction, and handle sensitive information responsibly.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HITRUST, HIPAA, or ISO 27001 through coursework, projects, or internships.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and basic security tooling.
• Awareness of OWASP Top 10 and general vulnerability assessment concepts.
• Any relevant certifications or self-driven security projects.
