Edge Computing

[ ej kuhm-pyoo-ting ]
noun

Edge computing processes and stores data close to where it is generated, such as on a device or a local server, instead of sending everything to a central cloud. It reduces latency and can limit how much data travels across networks.

Why it matters in customer experience

Most enterprise customer experience platforms run in the cloud. Edge computing matters mainly where real-time response or local data processing is required, such as connected devices or on-site systems.
